In March 2024, Wendy Sharpe – one of Australia’s most awarded and acclaimed artists – travelled to Ethiopia where she witnessed firsthand the life-changing work of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia.
Whilst she was there, she painted a collection of pastel and gouache artworks – some capture the joyful healing process of recovering fistula patients at Hamlin hospitals and others depict diverse Ethiopian tribal groups in the south of this extraordinary country.
Wendy Sharpe’s Art for Hamlin is inspired by the life-changing work of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia to restore the health and dignity of women suffering the trauma of obstetric fistula.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to make these works to help raise money for this wonderful foundation. It is hard to think of a more worthy cause.” – Wendy Sharpe AM
