A Christmas thank you from our Board of Directors

Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia (Australia) exists to ensure that the talented and hardworking team in Ethiopia can continue their mission, inspired by Reg and Catherine Hamlin, to eradicate obstetric fistula forever. Our Australian supporters play a critical role and we are enormously grateful for your support once again this year.

I am fortunate enough to be able to see first-hand the impact Australian support has on Ethiopia’s most vulnerable women when I visit Catherine and the Addis-Ababa Fistula Hospital. Year on year the maternal health landscape in Ethiopia is improving. The team at Hamlin continue to treat and prevent obstetric fistula patients with the same skill, dedication and care that has been our hallmark since Reg and Catherine Hamlin first arrived.

We remain firmly committed to Ethiopia and our core priority remains the same — supporting Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia’s prevention, treatment and rehabilitation work — until obstetric fistula has been eradicated in Ethiopia forever.

For 2018 we have made a very exciting and important decision to expand our work beyond Ethiopia. Partnering with a long established organisation working in maternal health care in Uganda, we will be establishing with them the Terrewode Women’s Community Hospital – replicating the Hamlin model of care, based in Soroti, Uganda. This exciting project will improve the situation of Uganda’s most vulnerable women in the years ahead and look forward to updating you further on this project as it rolls out in 2018.

Thank you for all you have done to support the women of Ethiopia this year.

Catherine, the Board and staff of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia are eternally grateful for your wonderful support and confidence in their work.

With very best wishes to you all for a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2018.
