An emotional experience
When Hamlin champion Ruth participated in the Hamlin Ethiopian Adventure in March of this year, she found that “it puts everything in perspective.”
According to Ruth, “going to the fistula hospital was so incredibly amazing; spending time with the patients, hearing the stories of what’s happening and the vision for the future gives me hope that what we’re doing… means something. [This experience] gives me great hope that the dream that the Hamlins had of eradicating fistula will happen.”
“I’ve been surprised by the strength of the emotions and the collective emotions of the group – I think we’ve all bonded so quickly because we’re all here for the same reason, we all believe in [Catherine’s] cause. It’s surprised me how overwhelming it’s been; I’ve shed a few tears – and a few more – and it’s all been worth it, it’s such a positive thing,” reflected Ruth.
