Hamlin Impact Report: July- October 2023

July- October 2023

We’re so pleased to share with you the impact made by Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia’s dedicated clinical team from July to October 2023

A total of 1,344 life-changing surgeries were performed at Hamlin’s Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital and our five regional fistula hospitals in Mekele, Yirgalem, Metu, Harar and Bahir Dar.

Our Mekele fistula hospital re-opened after the end of the civil war in early 2023. Thanks to your incredible support of our Raise2Restore Giving Day in August, our surgeons are now treating the backlog of women urgently needing surgery.

A total of 7 women with long-term fistula injuries and 56 women with advanced stage pelvic organ prolapse were found and treated during the Project Zero pilot in Ale Woreda.

The pilot is now complete and, due to its success, this groundbreaking program to eradicate fistula will be rolled out to three more woredas in the first six months of 2024.

Thank you so much for your continued support of women in Ethiopia.

The Treatment Dashboard is used to record patient admission rates, the number and type of surgical procedures undertaken, the fistula closure rate, the incontinence cure rate, and the number of patients and outpatients discharged at each of Hamlin’s fistula hospitals.
