Dr Catherine Hamlin’s gift to the world was to open our eyes to the plight of women suffering from obstetric fistula. Remembered as one of the world’s great humanitarians, she continues to inspire people like you to continue her mission to eradicate obstetric fistula in Ethiopia. Forever.
Leaving a charitable gift in your Will is a very personal decision. You will want to think of your family and loved ones first, but you can also provide enduring support for the causes you believe in.
Even 1% of your remaining estate helps build a fistula-free Ethiopia for future generations of women through life-changing surgeries, training and deploying Hamlin Midwives and rehabilitation and reintegration programs.

The impact of your gift
“When I held my beautiful daughter in my arms, all my past pain faded away. Words could not express my happiness. I am deeply thankful to all the staff and supporters who have supported my recovery and helped me bring my healthy child into the world.” – Chuni

Chuni was excited to welcome her first child but after three days of labour at home, the pain became unbearable. By the time Chuni arrived at a hospital far from her village it was too late. Her baby was tragically stillborn.
Heartbroken by the loss of her baby, Chuni also found herself leaking urine. When visitors arrived, Chuni’s mother-in-law hid her away. Chuni felt trapped, helpless and hopeless.
A year after receiving life-changing surgery at Hamlin’s Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital, Chuni became pregnant again. Chuni and her husband returned to the hospital for the safe caesarean delivery of their beautiful baby girl.
Chuni and her family can look forward to a bright future together thanks to someone like you who left a charitable donation in their Will.
“A gift in your Will helps to ensure that future generations of Ethiopian women who suffer the debilitating effects of obstetric fistula will receive the treatment they need. Thank you for considering Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation in your Will.“
– Dr Catherine Hamlin
