Hamlin Impact Report: March – June 2024

We’re delighted to share the latest Treatment Impact report with you, showing the surgical outcomes achieved by the dedicated clinical team at Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia from March to June 2024

Hamlin’s Mekele Fistula Hospital has the highest number of surgeries of all Hamlin’s hospitals, performing 427 life-changing surgeries in the four months from March to June.

Thanks to your support of our Raise2Restore Giving Day in August 2023, a second operating theatre was opened and has helped to increase the number of women urgently needing surgery after the civil war.

The ongoing conflict in the Amhara region is compromising the number of surgeries being performed at Hamlin’s Bahir Dar Fistula Hospital during this reporting period. Patients have been unable to come to the hospital for treatment and travel has been restricted for Hamlin’s Patient Identification officers searching for women with untreated fistula injuries.

Hamlin’s Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital performs surgery on the most complex childbirth injuries, which consume more time and resources.

Thank you for your ongoing support of women with childbirth injuries in Ethiopia.

This treatment dashboard is used to record patient admission rates, the number and type of surgical procedures undertaken, the fistula closure rate, the incontinence cure rate, and the number of patients and outpatients discharged at each of Hamlin’s fistula hospitals.

Below are some key data points of impact made at Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia’s hospitals in the months from March to June 2024:

Patient treatment at Hamlin is only possible thanks to you, our supporters – thank you. Click here to learn more about the Hamlin Clinical Team’s incredible work treating fistula patients.
