New water reservoir and updated equipment!

You have made a tangible difference

This was a milestone year for Dr Catherine Hamlin. We celebrated her 95th birthday, as well as the 60th anniversary of her arrival in Ethiopia. For Catherine’s Birthday Appeal, Australian supporters had the opportunity to donate directly to some special projects at Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia.

One of these projects was the purchase of an additional water reservoir. Water is essential to keep patients healthy and to sterilise medical equipment.

We’re so pleased to report that a water reservoir of 110,000 litres will be constructed and an additional water tank that can hold 25,000 litres of water will be installed on the hospital grounds at Addis Ababa. This is only possible thanks to you – our donors.

Through this appeal, we were also able to provide funds to acquire updated medical equipment. With some of the medical equipment over 10 years old, new equipment was critical. These supplies are now being purchased and dispatched to the six Hamlin hospitals.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to these special projects. Your gifts will ensure all six Hamlin hospitals continue to treat patients safely and effectively and Hamlin’s flagship, the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital, remains a world-class facility.
