Three years of helping others

High Tea for Hamlin is a time of year where supporters all around Australia (and the world) get busy hosting events throughout Spring. Each event is raising funds and awareness for the important work of Dr Catherine Hamlin and her team in Ethiopia.

Many of our hosts enjoy their High Tea for Hamlin so much that they make it an annual event – and for this we are very grateful. One such host is Elicia.

Meet Elicia

Elicia recently hosted her third High Tea for Hamlin. There was no shortage of decorations or food. Elicia and her ‘High Tea Gals’ enjoyed an afternoon in the sun – eating, laughing and talking about the work of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia.

“Hamlin Fistula is such a wonderful organisation and with each passing year, we feel more and more connected to the work that you all do. Many of our High Tea Gals have had children and couldn’t imagine giving birth without the support and expertise of our Australian health system. We feel as though we are in the position to make some kind of a contribution, and the High Tea is the perfect way!

Our end of fundraising celebration is just so beautiful, and such a lovely way of connecting all of the women, of spending some much needed time together, of recognising how very lucky and fortunate we are and reflecting upon the incredible work of Hamlin Fistula.

This is our third year involved with the High Tea, and it grows every year, in numbers and fundraising!!

A portrait of the incredible Catherine Hamlin sat pride of place, on the centre table and she is a much revered and respected woman.

I look forward to the day that I can visit the hospital, until then we’ll keep raising the funds!” – Elicia.

Life changing results

From this High Tea for Hamlin, Elicia and her High Tea Gals raised over $8,700 for fistula patients in Ethiopia. This is an incredible and truly life changing result.

“We’ve now raised $16,005.25 over the past 3 years. I am overwhelmed by people’s generosity and am proud of how everyone has banded together!” – Elicia.

Get involved!

By signing up to be a High Tea for Hamlin host, you, like Elicia, can help restore the health and dignity of women suffering with an obstetric fistula. Your event can be a big or small and you can hold it at home, at work or in your community.

Every event makes a huge difference.
