A cornerstone of Catherine’s vision is to ensure that women in Ethiopia have access to quality healthcare to prevent fistula injuries in the first place.

The Hamlin College of Midwives is a centre of excellence for training midwives. Upon graduation, Hamlin Midwives are deployed to Hamlin-supported rural midwifery clinics where they:

Save the lives of hundreds of mothers and babies every year
Dramatically reduce new incidences of obstetric fistula
Increase the number of safe deliveries of newborn babies
Support, nurture and empower women through sharing invaluable knowledge, building trusting networks and transforming entire communities.

Hamlin Midwives like Rahmet are the key to eradicating obstetric fistula in Ethiopia.
