We’ve updated our name!

Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation

In honour of Dr Catherine Hamlin’s ongoing, inspirational work, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia (Australia) has updated its name to the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation.

Dr Catherine Hamlin had an extraordinary year in 2017. She was named 2018 NSW Senior Australian of the Year. She now progresses to the National Australia Day awards, to be announced on 25 January (the day after her 94th birthday). Earlier last year, a Sydney Harbour Ferry was named in her honour. Catherine was also awarded Ethiopia’s prestigious ‘Good Person of the Year’ award for 2017. She continues to receive accolades such as these in her usual humble, gentle way.

The update to our name honours Catherine, helps to ensure that her name is associated with her important life-restoring work and better reflects our role here in Australia to support her work. Our partnership with Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is strong and supporting their work remains our priority.

This update affects our name only. Our organisation is unchanged and committed to raising funds to realise Catherine’s dream to eradicate fistula. Forever.
